Close Up Lenses

Tuesday, 12 January 2010

Yay!   Look what I got for my birthday - a set of close-up lenses!

Technically known as diopters, they look like filters and they're attached to your lens in the same way.  You can stack more than one to create varying degrees of macro.  I love close up photography so this is an ideal first step while I save up for a macro lens.

I found the lenses pretty easy to use: manual focus is better to ensure you get the exact detail you want, although the depth of field is very shallow so when you're zoomed right in the area of focus becomes more limited.

Has anyone else had experience with this type of lens?  Let me know if you have any useful tips!

  1. What a cool idea for a budget macro... looking forward to seeing what you do with them!
