Remembrance Day

Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.
From 'The Fallen' by Laurence Binyon
11th November is a special day in the UK when we remember those who have given their lives for our country. The Poppy Appeal raises money each year for troops and their families. We wear paper poppies on this day - symbolic of those which grew in profusion in the disturbed earth of the Flanders battlefields of the First World War and where casualties were buried. Wreaths of poppies are laid at War Memorials across the country, the most famous being at the Cenotaph in London where the Queen and members of the Government pay their respects.
Both my grandfathers fought in the Second World War so I always like to wear my poppy with pride!
