Escape to the Coast

Sunday, 29 July 2012

We decided to take a break from all the Olympic madness and scoot down to the coast for a day. Time to slow down, breathe some sea air and enjoy the fact that summer is finally with us.  So off we went down to Camber Sands and Rye...

A picnic on the sand, then a long walk on the beach...bliss!

Watching some pretty hardcore kite flying.  I think this was the first stages of learning to kiteboard.

Then into the nearby town of Rye for a wander.
All cobbled streets and pretty cottages...

There's a small castle too.  This is 1066 country you know!

Enjoying a bit of live music...

I spotted a letter box from Victorian times - you don't often see them.

There are some pretty shops in Rye.
I picked up a pair of lovely silver and garnet earrings for a very reasonable price.

We finished the day with tubs of locally produced ice-cream - delicious and the perfect end to the day. Forgot to take a picture, so busy was I eating it!

  1. It is time to be and refresh near the sea with this heatwave.
    Have a good time Claire.

  2. Such a beautiful part of the world! It's a pleasure to *meet* your blog!
