Getting ready for Golden Leaves

Friday, 6 September 2013

As I was leaving the station yesterday on my way home from work I noticed a tree with leaves that are just starting to curl and turn brown. Then it hit me that autumn is just around the corner in the UK and will soon be knocking on our doors. Am I ready to let it in? After such a lovely summer, I'm not sure that I am quite yet...
However, I've always loved the in-between seasons and the feelings of newness and change that they bring. A good clean in spring and that back to school feeling in autumn ~ I still get a bit of that even though I've been working for more years now that I was at school! New shoes or pencil case anyone?
And of course these times of year always bring some lovely photo opportunities. Give me a freshly greened tree or a pavement of autumn leaves and I'll happily snap away for an hour or so.

I think we may be in for a good one this autumn after a cold, cold spring and a long, hot summer. I'm thinking red, orange and golden leaves, deep and crunchy underfoot if we're lucky and there's not too much rain.

We'll be making the most of our new National Trust membership this year to get out and about and enjoy whatever loveliness mother nature has in store.

Do you feel the change of seasons? Which is your favourite?

  1. I think there are going to be a lot of autumn posts this week. It suddenly feels very autumnal. Hope I get to capture some lovely colours before heading off. England does do autumn very well.

  2. It's true, I do love the British autumn. Let's hope it stays fairly dry so we can enjoy the crunch factor this year!
