Home for Christmas

Monday, 23 December 2013

There's nothing quite like going home for Christmas, is there?

We left the hustle and bustle of London late on Friday evening, and now we're holed up in front of the fire to spend the holidays in the countryside with my family.

Although I didn't grown up in my parents' current house, we've grown to think of it as home from home, our country retreat, a place where we can catch our breathe and wind down from our hectic city lives.

I love all the familiar traditions we have at this time of the year ~ homemade mince pies, the decorations I've known for so many years...

Sleeping in and having time to read the paper the same day it comes out...bliss! For me there's also the joy of being able to pick up my camera and take some unhurried shots to add to the family memory bank...

Wishing you a restful and enjoyable festive season. Keep an eye out for some more posts here over the next couple of weeks. If it ever stops raining, I'll be getting out and about and updating you on what we get up to these holidays...

May your Christmas be merry and bright!
