A Passion for Porches

Tuesday, 22 July 2014

I've got two major obsessions when it comes to home living style. The first is hammocks, which you may already know about (more on that soon), the other is porches.

I know, it's a bit weird. There's just something in me that hankers after a sheltered place to relax outside, but still inside, maybe reading a bit and watching the world go by. Whenever we visit suburban areas in the US I'm in porch heaven, my passion fuelled by the beautiful climate and thoughts of myself wafting outside with a tray of gin & tonics.

A porch is definitely on my wanted list when we move to a bigger place. Sadly though, here in the UK it's not a hugely popular concept, probably because 75% of the year (or less!) we don't really have the weather for it. Having said that, I'm thinking woollen mittens, chunky scarves and steaming mugs of hot chocolate and a big rocking chair...

This is the kind of house in the US that really gets me drooling!
