Choosing a Camera Bag

Wednesday, 16 July 2014

If you follow my Instagram feed, you'll know that last month I was lucky enough to win this Transport for London Walking Photography Competition and I'm now the proud owner of a new Samsung NX300 camera and tripod.

Although I'm delighted, to say that I was amazed is an understatement! At first I wondered whether or not I should keep the camera, instead perhaps selling it, given that I'm very happy with my Canon 650D. But then I thought about how much time I spend taking pictures and decided that it might be fun to have another option ~ something much smaller and lighter than my Canon ~ to play with.

So decision made, my thoughts have turned to finding the best bag to protect the new addition to my camera family. Here are a few ideas I've pulled together online...

Would you go for any of these? Do you have any other tips for me?

  1. Hi Claire!

Well done that's fab, can't see on the walk page your winner though...Gizza link?

I suspect that having a lightweight camera will change your photography permanently, you know I only use my canon at events now, even then the oly is my main gun.

I hear good things about the Samsung, if it was me I might try to swap for a m43 because of the lens selection, but as bags go I always get something as small and anonymous as possible, my camera is now always about my person and nobody would ever know!

Well done again on that contest win

    1. Thanks Saul! They haven't published the winning photos yet. It's supposed to be in the London Metro paper as well, but no-one's given me a date. I guess they'll wait until they have a lull in the news and a gap to fill! You can (hopefully!) see the shot here:

Thanks for the tips on cameras & bags : )
